To-Read List

I've decided it's better to keep this here, where there's less chance of it being suddenly deleted, than on the library's site, GoodReads, in a notebook, and on Amazon.  All in one place is better!

  1. Yay! The Actual To-Read List! So far I've read Agnes Grey, Anna Karenina, Cranford, Crime and Punishment, Divergent, Insurgent, Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell, North and South, The Scarlet Pimpernel, The Screwtape Letters, The Tenant of Wildfell Hall & Tess of the D'Ubervilles. Of all of those books Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell is probably my absolute favourite. I love that book and there's an upcoming BBC adaptation in the works now! But I also have a great deal of love for most of those books.

    1. :-D

I actually read the first chapter or two of "Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell" six years ago. I took it along to the hospital when my first baby was born, and never got any farther in it because I was too busy snuggling the baby and watching old NCIS eps with my husband. Some day I'll get it again, I'm sure.

    2. And now I've added a bunch more because I decided to include the books I own but haven't read. So when I to this Mount TBR challenge, people can see what I'm drawing from. Sigh. So Many Books.

  2. Wooooowww!!! I thought my TBR list was long. Actually, I've got a tons more I'd like to add, but I only listed those that I own. I see that you've included both.

    1. Hee. Yes, it's massive. I've considered doing something similar for movies too, but that seems even more daunting. Anyway, these are all the books that I've thought, "Hey, I'd like to read that!" about. I've thought about taking off the ones I own, as it seems a little pointless to have them here since it's not like I'm going to forget to read them -- they're sitting on my shelves, taunting me. I've quit adding books I buy to this list, anyway. So mostly this is for me to remember what books I want to read, because otherwise I'd just read what crosses my path at the library or book store instead of seeking out things I thought sounded interesting when someone else reviewed them, etc.

    1. Elaina, indeed I do! I haven't seen the movie, but people keep recommending Thomas Hardy to me, so I'd like to see if I like him or not.

  5. That's one heck of a list... While you have Frankel's book on "The Searchers" why don't you add Alan Lemay's original novel? (If you haven't already read it.) Also have you read the original novel The Shootist by Glendon Swarthout? The character of Gillom is a bit different, Ron Howard he is not, but its a great read. Swathout's son Miles wrote a sequel, but I admit I had grown a little disgusted with Gillom by then so i didn't finish it. I'll try again someday.

    1. Hey, Quiggy, you know how I never seem to get notified of your comments? I just found one from more than a year ago!

And my answer is... I should read Alan Lemay's books to my TBR list cuz I hear many of them are good. And nope, I haven't read The Shootist because the movie depresses me and I don't like reading depressing books.
